“From Winnipeg to Fully Alive"

Written by a priest Monsignor Vincent Foy, P.H., J.C.D., Canon Lawyer, Former Director of Catechetics, Archdiocese of Toronto

The Winnipeg Statement and "Fully Alive".

Paragraph 33 in the Winnipeg Statement included a pledge “to the pastoral priority of encouraging and promoting [sex education] programs whenever and wherever possible.” The result of this pledge was the Fully Alive sex education program that is widely used today in Catholic schools.

From “From Winnipeg to Fully Alive" document:

"Monsignor Foy is a priest and canon lawyer of the Archdiocese of Toronto, a one-time head of the archdiocesan marriage tribunal, and a founder and Honorary Member of the Canadian Canon Law Society. He is the oldest priest in his Archdiocese and the only surviving priest of the class of 1939 of St. Augustine's Seminary. Msgr. Vincent Foy is best known for his untiring defense of Catholic teachings on marriage and family life, Pope Paul VI’s encyclical Humanae vitae. His efforts have earned him a Papal Commendation and the Pro-life Man of the Year Award. For decades, Msgr. Foy has fearlessly articulated and defended the teachings of the Church's Magisterium - which are the teachings of Christ Himself - in a time of moral and doctrinal chaos in the Church in Canada."
